姥爷是指外公还是爷爷？
姥爷是指外公。

姥爷是北方日常的口语，指的是母亲的父亲；而外公是南方的日常口语，指的是母亲的父亲。因此姥爷其实指的就是外公，只是因劳北为地域的原因，所以叫法有所不同。而对于母亲的父亲比较书面化的词语其觉实是外祖父。
